To Do List by Splend Apps feels like one of those tools that quietly earns a spot on your phone without demanding much back. At its core, it's a straightforward task manager designed to help you track daily errands, work deadlines, and personal reminders, all from a single interface. But looking deeper, the app tries to stand out by blending simplicity with a few organizational layers that let you sort tasks by date, priority, or custom categories. The target audience seems to be people who find bigger apps like Todoist or Microsoft To Do overly complicated or cluttered with collaboration features they never use. It's for someone who just wants to write down a grocery list, set a reminder for a meeting, and maybe track a few habits without a steep learning curve.
In practice, the core features do their job without much fuss. Adding a task is quick, setting due dates is intuitive, and the basic list view keeps everything readable. The additional features like subtasks and color-coded labels do add value, but they are not groundbreaking. What I personally appreciated was how the app handled recurring tasks. I tend to forget weekly chores like taking out the trash or watering plants, and being able to set a repeating reminder without jumping through extra menus saved me from my own forgetfulness. It solved a small but genuine problem for me staying consistent with low-stakes but easy-to-miss routines. That said, the app is not trying to be a project management tool. If you need something like Gantt charts or team collaboration, this is not for you.
Based on my usage, I would recommend To Do List to anyone who prefers a no-fuss digital list over paper notes, especially students juggling assignments and young professionals managing personal tasks. It is most useful for people who need a lightweight system to stay on top of daily life, not for someone running complex workflows. If you have tried seven different to-do apps and keep coming back to pen and paper, give this one a shot it might stick.
features
- 📝 Task creation and organization feel remarkably frictionless. You type a name, optionally add a note or due date, and the task appears in your chosen list. The interface does not bury options behind multiple taps, which means you can capture a thought in under ten seconds. That speed matters when you are in the middle of something else and just need to remember an idea before it slips away.
- 📝 The subtask system allows you to break larger tasks into smaller steps. For example, I use it for meal prep: a main task called 'Cook Sunday meals' with subtasks like 'chop vegetables' and 'marinate chicken.' This keeps complex projects from feeling overwhelming and gives a sense of progress as you check off each tiny step.
- 📝 Color-coded labels add a visual layer that makes scanning your list easier. I assign red for urgent work deadlines, blue for personal errands, and green for health-related items like 'schedule dentist appointment.' At a glance, I know where to focus my energy without reading every line.
- 📝 The recurring task feature handles daily, weekly, and monthly repeats reliably. Setting 'Water plants every Tuesday' or 'Pay rent on the 1st' takes only a few seconds and the app never reminds me on the wrong day. This reliability builds trust over time, which is rare for simple to-do apps.
pros
- ✓ The app does not try to sell you a premium subscription aggressively. Unlike many competitors that nag you to upgrade after every action, this one lets you use its core features without constant interruptions.
- ✓ Battery and memory usage are minimal. Even with dozens of tasks and reminders, the app runs smoothly on older phones without slowing down your device or draining power.
- ✓ Offline functionality works exactly as expected. You can add, edit, and check off tasks without an internet connection, and everything syncs when you go back online.
cons
- ✗ The visual design feels outdated. Icons look like they are from an earlier Android era, and the overall layout lacks the polish you see in modern apps. It works fine, but it does not feel pleasant to look at.
- ✗ There is no cloud sync across devices. If you switch phones or want to check your list on a tablet, you have to start over or manually export your data, which is a hassle.
- ✗ The search function is basic and only matches exact words in task titles. If you misspell something or look for a task by its note content, you might not find it at all.
